Earn Money Blogging - Six Apart Media

Blogging, as anyone who follows my Week In Review earnings, knows is my largest money maker now.

Since starting my blog just over 2 years ago, I have been able to earn a little bit extra for my family while doing something I love.....sharing the ways I earn and save from home. My hope has always been to allow others to benefit, too.

So, I love sharing when I use a program that allows me to earn on my blog. And, if you are a blogger, too, I hope the programs I share will allow you to earn a little bit extra for your household, too.

And, remember these programs often have many, many advertisements available. Even if you blog about something other then saving money, there will be ads that may fit for you within these networks.

This week, I would like to share a program I have been using a few months now. I received my 2nd pay check from them this month.

Six Apart Media

Unlike most Affiliate programs, you are paid on a per impression basis. This means, you put their advertisement on your blog and every person who visits your site and "sees" it ( they don't need to click on it, etc, just view it ) will count towards your per impression pay. They calculate on a per 1,000 impressions basis and pay is different per blog. They will actually bid on your site and drive your pay accordingly.

If you look at the front page of my site, scroll down and in my right side bar you will see an advertisement that changes every time you come to my site. It is right below my 2008 Savings & Earnings drop down.

You can create your ad to a size that fits your blog, of course.

To be considered, your site must:

• Be at least 60 Days Old
• Be Updated Weekly
• Hosted by a Service that Accepts Ads
• Free of Profanity in the Title
• Free of Adult Content

In addition, they pay each time your pay hits $50. This is a reasonable ( if not low, compared to some networks ) threshold to meet, which means you will get your money faster.

$20 Free to Bidvertiser

As a blogger, I just love when I get free money for advertising from different companies. Just last week, I got a $100 code in the mail for Google, so I will be able to run a text advertisement for Money Saving Methods. Yay!

Then, this week I also got $20 free from Bidvertiser that all my fellow bloggers and website owners can take advantage of right now, too.

Bidvertiser - $20 Free

This runs the same way Google Adwords does, it is a very similar program. You can choose from a text advertisement or a image based ad. I chose the text advertisement, because it was quicker and easier to set up. And, I didn't have the size dimensions they required for an image ad created for my blog.

So, here are the details:

• Click here to register for free with Bidvertiser and get $20 free with sign up
• Create your account.
  
• If it does not give you the option for text ads at first, log out and back in. Your $20 will still be there.
• Create your text ad ( take moments )
• Enter your daily max spent. I entered $20. They will shut your ad off for the day once it reaches $20.
  
• You will need to enter your credit card info in case you forget to pause your campaign the next day and it runs again.
• Mark your calendar for to log in and pause your campaign. Nothing will then be charged to your credit card. But, you must remember to do it before you reach the $20 threshold, or they will charge you for the whole week ( whatever cost you set that up for when registering your ad ).
  

And, you are done! You will have $20 free in advertising.

You can direct your ad to go to a specific page for your site, if you so desire, or to your website overall. I set mine up to go specifically to my Survey webpage. I targeted the advertisement for those interested in Surveys. I cover so many topics on my site, I felt a small text ad might be the wrong place to incorporate all the topics I talk about.

With my Google Ad, I think I may gear it towards my Mystery Shopping page. But, you can spend the $20 anyway you think will benefit your site.

BidVertiser Publisher Program

In addition, Bidvertiser also has a publisher ( affiliate style ) program set up similarly to Google Adsense. I have been reading up and there are some nice benefits. You can set it up just like your google ads ( I would alter between the two to see which perform better OR set up on a separate web page. I would not put both on the same page ). I am going to put my BidVertiser ads on my specific web pages to try it out.

• The advantages, especially to those not earning the minimum payout of $100 per month with Google Adsense, is that Bidvertiser pays out at $10!! That is a very easy threshold to meet.
  
• You can choose to have the users clicks opened in another window, thus keeping readers on your site.
  
• You can manually approve which ads will display on your site.
• You can choose to display eBay auction ads
• They have a Refer a Friend program. This helps earn extra money, as we all know.

Free Online Bookkeeping Program

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve, and honestly....I cannot wait for 2010!

OK, being another year older is not at the top of my list, of course. But, I do always get extremely excited to see what each new year brings for me and my family. I am full of hope for the new and good things we will experience each year.

But, I also am glad to be given the opportunity to set my goals all over and give myself that annual pep talk to get me moving in the right direction. I look back at previous years and see what worked, but also take into account what didn't.

And, although I am not going to bore you with my history in 2009 ( many of you were here reading for a good part of it ), we all know as humans there is always room for improvement. I had goals I missed, obviously.

And, one of the things I want to vastly improve on this year is keeping my earnings and expenses tracked. I was great at keeping my earnings categorized and accounted for this year ( and every year ). I love that aspect of earning/saving. As I have always said, it keeps me motivated. But, tracking all my expenses. Seriously, how fun is that? :)

But, I did begin using a program this year ( not the full year ) that is keeping me in line. But, now I found another free program from Quickbooks, too. So, I am going to utilize them both for a month or two to see what works for me and then continue on with it throughout 2010.

So, as you prepare for 2010, I wanted to make sure you had access to both these free programs to track your earnings/expenses. Remember, whether you blog, mystery shop, complete online offers, home sales parties or anything that you earn money for your family, you can deduct certain expenses relative to that activity.

So, make sure to track it all. Mileage, ink, paper, etc. Check with your tax professional for restrictions and what you can and cannot deduct, but track it so you are prepared come tax time!

Free Mileage Tracker Software for All!

You may remember when I originally introduced Outright to the readers of my blog. At the time, they were offering a free promotion ( your own domain address ) to try their free program. ( yes, this is all free! )

Besides just sharing that you could get a free web address, I really wanted to pass on the information about this great program.

Many of you are taking part in money earners that I have discussed on my site. Whether this is Online Offers, Blogging, Mystery Shopping, Surveys, Market Research, etc, you are earning money and will have expenses you can deduct.

Based on what I have heard from many of my readers, you have exceeded that $600 threshold so that the companies will need to report your income to the IRS, which means you will be receiving your 1099s after the first of the year.

But, are you ready with your deductions? Do you have any idea how much tax you might owe ( so you have been setting it aside ). Have you tracked you income, so you are sure everything matches up?

Outright is great for this. I use it myself, and it automatically estimates what I will owe for taxes and I can input all my deductions as they happen, so I don't forget about them. I log everything here.

Well, I am happy to report, they just added a new feature...mileage tracker! Yay!


Remember, if you drive to a Mystery Shop and back, that mileage is deductible. Did you need to go somewhere for your Market Research company? Did you need to pick your $500 gift card up from the Fed Ex location? What about running to the post office to mail your redemption forms? Did you go to a Blogging Conference?

I LOVE this addition to their program. You input your address and then the address of the location you are going. Hit get mileage and it immediately calculates your deduction based on the rate from the IRS. Then it has a spot for the date and trip details to categorize it. You click save, and it will pull in with all your income and expenses to update your records and estimates for taxes owed for the year.

My Blog Spark - Free Products to Giveaway and Review

When I started blogging, I soon learned that one of the great pleasures on my site was being able to help others. I originally started it to have a platform to share with family and friends how I was saving and earning money each month. And, especially, to help them with Online Offers.

My friends were just sick and tired of me emailing them every week with this deal and that deal, and step by step directions for Online Offers. I don't even know if any of them even read them? LOL.

Well, I must say, Facebook is a GREAT way to go! I put my ad out there yesterday and paid per click to my site and I had so many clicks, I went thru all my money in a day. :)

What is nice is that you can set up a cap for you how much of the money you want spent each day, what your target audience is ( do you want you ads only seen my females in a certain age range, for example ) and you can add your own image and text.

My favorite programs for earning money blogging? CJ, Linkshare, CPA Storm, Exclusive CPA, Logical Media, My Savings ( click on the advertise button at the very bottom to register ), Share a Sale, Panthera Network.

But, one of the aspects you will find when applying for affiliate programs is that often times, you must have your own url or web address. When you set up a blog, the address is often times ( if using a free provider ) an address that is not your own unique url. So, this means you usually have to pay to get one.

But, yay, right now you can get a free web address through Outright when you sign up for free. And, as I mentioned here about Outright, this is a great free program to utilize and to track your income and expenses when running a business from home ( or a blog ). It will help figure out taxes owed approx, and give you nice reports to track how you are doing.

Outright - Free Income Tracking Software!

I know so many of you out there are fellow bloggers or small business owners like myself. I now officially consider my blog a business. It takes a portion of my time daily, I am earning revenue which I MUST pay taxes on and I do it to help my families financial situation.

Do you blog? Are you a consultant for a home party company? Do you Mystery Shop? Do Online Offers? Earn with Surveys?

If you do, you are earning revenue and you should also be tracking expenses. What about your mileage to and from the shop you did for your Mystery Shop? Do you need your computer to earn revenue for Online Offers, Surveys, etc? What about all those trials you signed up for to earn your Online Offer money? Did you pay postage to mail your documentation? So many things are deductible if you can just remember to track them.

If you do any of these activities or more, you may enjoy this FREE software as much as I do.

Up to this point, I have been tracking everything in Excel. But, the one thing I was not doing was estimating my taxes. This is important BECAUSE......I am sure we can all finish the sentence.

Well, because if we would happen to spend the money earned and not set enough aside for taxes..then we have a problem when the IRS wants their money.

Outright is a free website that you can use to track your earnings, expenses ( this also important so you can DEDUCT at the end of the year thus lowering your tax bill ).

What I like about it is that is estimates your taxes owed as you enter details. So, you can always get a ballpark figure of how much of the money is, well, not yours! :-) Just because you cashed those checks does not mean you get to keep it forever. :-)

In addition, it will put reports together for you that show your profit and losses.

Exclusive CPA - Affiliate Program

Are you a fellow blogger or website owner? Here is another great company to use and earn some extra revenue from your site.

I found this affiliate program a few months ago, but I wanted to wait until my first paycheck came before recommending it to everyone else.

And, yesterday, I had a $103.25 check in hand. Yay!

The name of the company is Exclusive CPA, and you can click here to register.

I have found, that they often have links for new advertisements before some of the other affiliate programs I use. BUT, the pay out is usually slightly lower once the other companies do pick up the same advertiser.

So, once that happens, I then usually switch out to the higher paying company.

I often find ads I don't on some of the other sites. So, that is nice, too.

They did just recently move over to a new platform, but I believe most of the advertisers are moved over now.

And, as with alot of these companies, you do get a percentage of all your referrals. For this company, it is 3%. SOOO..make sure you put a link on your site so other bloggers can sign up under you. This is another great feature and can bring in an extra income for you thru the years, too.

Copeac - Affiliate Earnings for Bloggers

We all know how I love my affiliate programs. They are such a wonderful way for bloggers to make extra money, while typing about what they love everyday.

100 Free Business Cards plus Profit!

As you noticed, I introduced a new affiliate program this week for all of us bloggers. And, you have all heard me talk about this as a great way to make extra income for your family. Click here to read more about earning money blogging or go to my Affiliates button in the left menu bar at anytime.

Besides the fact, it is a lot of fun to share with everyone something you are excited and passionate about.

But, I have failed to mention some great and important ways to share your website with others around your community!!

And, that is via business cards.

These little rectangular pieces of paper are an easy and cheap way for you to advertise your work and potentially get new readers. And, every new reader may tell someone else...and so on and so forth.

Where all can you hand these out?

• When you leave your tip at the restaurant, leave your card!
• Paying a bill the old fashioned way..via mail...stick a card in!
• Someone comments at the grocery how much money you are saving? ( this happens quite often ) Hand them a card.
• Going to a conference..be prepared...everyone is trading cards. ( I forgot mine at home when I went to Blissdom..couldn't believe it!! )
• Give some to your family to pass out. My parents are always spreading the word on my website. I was at a wedding recently and someone came up and wanted to know if I had a card on me because my family had been talking about my blog.
• Some local establishments will allow you to leave them. Some libraries, grocery stores, etc have boards or places to leave cards so the public can see them.

There are many ways to utilize business cards, and if you blog, I highly recommend you get some.

That is why I ordered some this week for Free from Overnight Prints. I needed new ones to match my new design anyway. Here is what mine look like,front and back. They are glossy and the corners rounded. The dimensions are not quite so long and stretched out, but you get the idea, and it is a bit clearer, of course.

New Affiliate Program - Panthera Network

For all my blogging friends, I wanted to share a great new Affiliate program I have been using. It is Panthera Network. Click here to register.

I received my first check for $135 over the weekend, and this was within the first month of using them. So, I was very pleased!

I haven't even begun to utilize all the wonderful offers they have, and I have noticed that they change offers out during the month. So, there are always new ones coming and going.

In addition, with my check was a letter inviting me to participate in their bonus incentive programs for the month. It appears they offer different companies each month that you can get an additional bonus on if you promote. You get a code and simply request to be added to the program during the appropriate month. Great way to make a little extra!

Plus, they state they give $150 sign on bonus. Not sure the details behind this, as I didn't get it. Bummer! I didn't sign up under anyone, so I assume that is why I didn't see this extra money.
