Today I received an invite for a $20 survey from Survey Savvy.

The title of my email was: #A1724 Participate in a new $20 survey

The survey should take about 20 minutes.

Christmas Trees - $14.99 and up at Target

I just picked up 4 trees! Yes, 4!

Not all for me, mind you. But, my sister-in-law just got her first home and didn't even put a tree up this year. So, I called her, and she said she wanted one.

Then, I called my Mom. Her tree is quite old and she has been looking for a new one for her house, but not wanting to spend the money. She said yes!

Then, we have a tree in our upstairs window that is, well, older than my husband and I! It was his from when he was a kid, and his mom gave it to us when we were first married. We have been wanting to replace it for years, but again, who wants to spend a couple hundred for a tree?

Then, the 4th? I have been wanting one for my foyer. And, at $14.99, my husband and I decided to finally make my Christmas wish come true. :)

Needless to say, if you or anyone you know needs a Christmas tree, Target ( stores may vary ) has their Christmas merchandise marked down.

At my store, they are NOT flying off the shelves, because the tags on the shelf still said $124!! And, that was the clearance price ( about 25 to 50% off depending on the tree ).

But, I noticed the ornaments were marked down, so I took a tree to the self scanner. I about fell over when it said $14.99! A price mistake? So, I grabbed a different tree ( this one was pre-lit ) and it came to $17.99. I asked one of the clerks to scan it and she said they just deeply discounted them. Yay!

So, don't go by the shelf tag. Grab one of the tree boxes and go to the self scanner. Thankfully, they have handles to carry them with, so they are easy to tote around.

Free Online Bookkeeping Program

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve, and honestly....I cannot wait for 2010!

OK, being another year older is not at the top of my list, of course. But, I do always get extremely excited to see what each new year brings for me and my family. I am full of hope for the new and good things we will experience each year.

But, I also am glad to be given the opportunity to set my goals all over and give myself that annual pep talk to get me moving in the right direction. I look back at previous years and see what worked, but also take into account what didn't.

And, although I am not going to bore you with my history in 2009 ( many of you were here reading for a good part of it ), we all know as humans there is always room for improvement. I had goals I missed, obviously.

And, one of the things I want to vastly improve on this year is keeping my earnings and expenses tracked. I was great at keeping my earnings categorized and accounted for this year ( and every year ). I love that aspect of earning/saving. As I have always said, it keeps me motivated. But, tracking all my expenses. Seriously, how fun is that? :)

But, I did begin using a program this year ( not the full year ) that is keeping me in line. But, now I found another free program from Quickbooks, too. So, I am going to utilize them both for a month or two to see what works for me and then continue on with it throughout 2010.

So, as you prepare for 2010, I wanted to make sure you had access to both these free programs to track your earnings/expenses. Remember, whether you blog, mystery shop, complete online offers, home sales parties or anything that you earn money for your family, you can deduct certain expenses relative to that activity.

So, make sure to track it all. Mileage, ink, paper, etc. Check with your tax professional for restrictions and what you can and cannot deduct, but track it so you are prepared come tax time!

So, here we go:

Quickbooks Online Free
  • Track your money -income/expenses ( create invoices, too )
  • Reports - Profit/Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Transactions by Date
  • And, more
  • Click here to get it free
  • Go here and here to read all about this program from my previous post!
  • Favorite aspects? Tax estimate by each quarter of the year. No shocking tax bill at the end of the year! And, they have a new mileage tracker section.

Free Books - New Releases!!

I truly hope everyone had a great Christmas! Mine is still in full swing. Can you tell from my lack of posts these last few weeks?

We had my sister-in-law and our family over today for a Christmas party and tomorrow my in-laws are over again ( they are visiting from Florida right now ). Over the weekend, we went down to see Great Grandma in Kentucky and spend part of the day with her. Next my Aunt and Uncle are coming from Cleveland and THEN...we will finally slow down next weekend.

So, I will try to post occasionally over this next week, but well, as you can see we are still having a wonderful few weeks with many, many family members. So, the posts may be few and far between until the 1st!

On top of that, I am preparing a challenge for us in January ( and throughout 2010 ). For long time readers, you may remember the Method Marathon I did last January to gear us all up for savings/earnings in 2009.

Well, this year we are getting ready to run either a 5K or a 10K! OK, I don't mean run an actual 5 or 10 Kilometers, but I mean we are going to earn/save either 5K ( $5,000 ) or 10K ( $10,000 ) next year. And, hey, if you want to save and earn even more, go for it! I will have add on methods that you can follow outside of the challenge to increase your numbers. I can't WAIT! New years always get me excited to see what I can do for my family financially.

So, are you ready? If not, be prepared to check in with me each weekday next month to see what all we are going to do to get ahead in 2010. Pick the plan that works better for you. If you are new to savings/earnings with my methods, then I will have the $5,000 challenge for you. For those of us who have been doing this longer, we can aim for $10,000 or more.

ANYWAY, I couldn't pass us sharing the Read it Forward program with Crown Publishing Group. I love to read, and I especially love to read for free. In fact, if I can read, and for free, AND keep the book ( or share it with friends ), I am truly excited.

There are only limited quantities and it is a first come, first serve basis. But, you will get new releases for the books mailed to you.

The request form is very quick and only took moments.

Currently, the following new releases are available:
  • Breaking Out of Bedlam by Leslie Larson
  • Prima Donna by Megan Chance
  • True Confections by Katharine Weber
To request yours, go here.

Let me know when you get yours!

Shop & Scan & Earn!

Well, this is going to be my last post before Christmas! As you can tell, my posting has been a bit random these last few months, but we have been busy preparing for our time with family. And, I am happy to say, the festivities begin today. Off to church with the grandparents, then home for a Christmas Eve dinner party.

Tomorrow, we will be with my parents, aunt/uncle, and my brother and his family. Fun awaits! Then, the next day, we will be with another set of grandparents/aunt for our Christmas with them.

But, before the fun begins, I did stumble upon another research program for scanning groceries at home. This means, just like Nielsen, you will track what you purchase and then get rewards for doing so.

Do you remember my original write up on Nielsen? If not, read below.

I am going to admit, I had signed up for this a few years back, received my scanner in the mail, and then......well, had my youngest son "early" and life became a whirlwind! So, I had to return it and I am just now, finally, signing up to become a member again.

Want to know a bit more about the program?

Well, it is run by Nielsen ( you know the company....think TV ratings ) and is to track consumers purchases. They are conducting market research on how you shop! What a great time to tell them what a great sale shopper you are, and how much you can save!

Many times, once you sign up, you are put on a waiting list. So, I would sign up now, if interested. Some have reported getting their scanners fairly quickly, and others ( like myself last time ) it took over 6 months to get my scanner.

What does their site claim?

Earn gifts and rewards from home scanning the products you purchase. Join ACNielsen's Homescan Consumer Panel and make a difference. Limited availability!
* You MUST have a Land-Line Home Phone (no cell phones)
* You MUST have a standard Land-Line Phone Connection (no DSL, Cable or Internet)

Need more info on the program?
They send a scanner to your house, and everytime you go shopping ( think groceries, too ) and you come home, you scan the products quickly before putting them away and enter the cost, etc. You then send the information via the scanner so they can track your "shopping".

Is it worth the time spent to scan your purchases?

Not sure. As I mentioned, I had to send mine back, because I didn't even take it out of the box.

I have heard others comment that they really like the program, especially since their groceries automatically loaded in when scanned and then some have said the scanner didn't automatically work for their grocery ( meaning they had to manually enter their info ) and it was a bit too much time invested then.

My recommendation is to just sign up and get on the list, and give it a try. If your scanner is automatic, it could be worth all the points you earn. If yours don't automatically load, well, you can just send it back then.

Well now, there is a 2nd company that is similar to Nielsen. I would recommend signing up with this company, too. Especially if you have yet to be accepted to the first program and are on their waiting list.

Shopper Hotline

To join this panel and begin scanning your purchases, they unfortunately do not have an online application. Instead, you need to call them and apply via the phone. You can read a bit about the company here, though.

Call 1-877-999-2949.

It appears on their program, instead of rewards, you may actually receive checks to cash. Apparently, they run on a point system that you then redeem for your money.

I plan to try again with this program, and if/when I get accepted, I will definitely tell you more.

Morpace - Market Research Company

Honestly, I am really quite astounded at how many Market Research studies my family has qualified for in the last 2 months. This is the 4th one now, and this one arrived in our mailbox.

Today, we got $20 for logging in to an Auto Market Research study for a company called Morpace. The questionnaire took my husband about 20 minutes, and they are mailing our check within 6 to 8 weeks.

Keep an eye on your mailboxes because you never know what is going to arrive in yours!

Morpace

Would you like to sign up with Morpace yourself, and be included in future Focus Group studies? Click here to register.

They are located in Detroit, MI and pay $60 and up for studies. If you aren't in that general area you may not be able to join, but enter your zip code to check availability.

BUT, that doesn't mean you still won't qualify for certain studies. Hence, this auto study for my husband was available online and they state they get all names for surveys they send out from other reputable companies.

Looking to join reputable survey companies? Click here to get my run down of my top picks.

Finally, here are a few more study screeners for you to take and see if you qualify. And, don't forget to go here to read here on the most recent company I introduced, Engage in Depth.

Bonus Swagcode Available! Grab yours now...

Have you checked your Swagbucks Toolbar today?

Until 6PM EST, you can get a bonus swagcode by entering the code they emailed you today.

Here is a helpful hint:

When I check my inbox, it says enter the swagcode. BUT, the swagcode isn't listed. Very weird. But, if I go back to the inbox and click on the word Message at the top, it opens the latest message and that one DOES have the code.

I have found this happens a lot to me lately.

New House Parties Available - Sign up Now!

I have been getting great feedback from readers on the House Parties I have posted about. And, I know some of you have new parties coming up! Yay! Please leave comments afterward and let me know what you think.

For those new to the House Party concept, it is a great way for advertisers to get products in front of all of us! And, the benefit? You get tons of freebies ( I mean TONS ) just to try their products and have friends over to your house to try them, too.

One of my girlfriends is going to be hosting her own party. You are NOT selling anything, just simply inviting others over to try the products and see what the company has to offer. After you party is over, you answer a short survey about the experience, what the guests thought, etc. Fun!

So, here are the newest House Parties you can apply to right now:

As more become available, I will be sure to let you know!

60 Photo Cards w/Free Shipping - $4.90

Oh, how sick you are of me typing about this deal.

But, I FINALLY ordered the last of my Christmas cards last night with this deal (I had gotten some from a studio when I took my kids for their annual pictures, so was waiting to see how many came free with what I ordered )

Anyway, right now, See Here is offering Free Shipping when you order 60 photo cards!

This makes for a GREAT deal.

If you remember, you get 50 Free 4X8 Photo cards when you use code newbaby.

Shipping comes to a little over $3! Good deal.

But, if you add on 10 extra cards, that brings you to 60 cards and you get free shipping.

The price of 10 extra cards is $4.90. So, for approximately $1 more than before ( remember shipping is free now, so you can deduct that $3+ ), you are getting 10 extra cards. I couldn't pass it up.

To get your 60 cards ( total of $4.90 out of pocket ), click here. Or, you can still choose to only order 50 for approx. $3+ out of pocket.

My cards should be here tomorrow, then off to addressing them all. I am hoping for the post office to have a sale on postage now. :) I may be waiting quite a while.

Thanks to ??? for emailing me about the 10 extra cards for free shipping. Seriously, I can't find the email of the reader who emailed me this great find...but THANKS. I am not sure I would have checked to see what a deal that was otherwise.

Hurry! $10 off $10 Buy.com - Almost Free Products

Update: Just found out this expires TODAY...the 11th! So, don't miss it!

Thanks to this great $10 off $10 code, I was able to get (2) Thomas the Train DVDs, each at less than $1! My 2 year old absolutely loves Thomas and as of yet has none of his movies. So, these will be great stocking stuffers. I can't wait to see his little face.

If you do decide to go the DVD route...there are tons of DVDs you can get for almost free and many of them have free shipping. Both of my Thomas the Train DVDs were free shipping. To see if your item is free shipping, look for the YELLOW moving truck under the item and the words free shipping. That means it ships free regardless of price.

If it has an orange moving truck below and free shipping, that means you need to spend a certain dollar amount ( $25 for DVDs ) to get free shipping. So, I looked for DVDs with the yellow truck.

So, here is what you need to do to get your $10 off $10 to Buy.com.

  • Click here to go to eBillMe, then click the Home tab
  • Once on this page, click on Shop Now at Buy.com in the window showing all the stores
  • Shop their sales, DVD sections, or wherever. They do have a Holidays section
  • Once you find your items, load them to your cart.
  • Check out by setting up an account
  • Choose pay with eBillMe
  • Place your Order ( do NOT enter your code on this page )
  • It will take you to the eBillMe payment page.
  • Enter code buy10dec
  • Then, follow the directions to pay via your bank account online bill pay.
What deal did you find with this $10? Please share in the comment section so others can find great items, too.

Enjoy!
