Over $17 Free from Ebates - Hurry

Update 3/26/08: As of today, if you click on the All Stores tab and go to TIVO, it says no accessories qualify for the $15. If you go under the drop down box on the left, it still states you get $15 for a purchase ( doesn't list stipulations ). My recommendation would be, if you didn't get on this deal before today, don't bother. I will leave that up to you if you want to try and buy it through the drop down on the left hand side, but since it states somewhere else on the website you won't get credit, I wouldn't push your luck. Just my 2 cents! For those of us who bought it before today, please post in the comment section when your $15 hits. I will be curious to see how many of them go through now. Mine took awhile to hit. I would think you should see the money by the weekend.

If you haven't read my original post on Ebates, click here. It is a great reward program for shopping online. It is very similar to Big Crumbs and many others out there.

But, the reason I keep highlighting it this month is that they are running the $10 sign up bonus. So, if you are new to Ebates, it is a great time to join. Simply click here.

To receive your $10, you must make a purchase. You can go to my post on getting an Entertainment Book for free ( although I think the free shipping is over now...so you will pay a bit for your book ), or I have a new purchase that you can make money on....I just did it myself last week.

If you login and set up your free account, you then go to the TIVO link in the drop down menu. TIVO is paying $15 for a purchase on their site thru Ebates! This may not seem like a good investment, since TIVO's cost over $100, BUT...this is not the case. They have many small items. I bought a phone jack splitter for $2.99 through their site ( cost $7.91 w/ shipping ) and Ebates gave me $15! So, if you are new to Ebates, you would get $25 if you spend only $7.91 on the TIVO site.

This is also a great purchase to get you over your $5.01 level so that you can receive your check and not have it roll over to the next pay period.

Even if you don't need one of their small items ( they have others ), it is still worth buying the product to get the free money and establish your account. You can then begin to use Ebates and also refer friends. For each friend you refer before the end of March, you will also get another $10! Plus, they are running an additional special where you will get a $10 Target gift card for every 2 people you refer ( so that is $30 for 2 referrals ).

Remember to sign up and make your purchase immediately. If your purchase does not happen before the end of March, you will not get your $10 sign on bonus.

I signed up and used e-bates , as you recommended and they only credited my account for $5. Google checkout was another one that said I would get $10 off for using their service. I ordered an Item through e-bags using e-bates and google. I was dissapointed and am not sure how to get what I thought was going to be $15.oo. Any suggestions? Thanks for all your great Ideas and deals. I really appreciate your sharing info.

I just signed up. It was easy. I ordered the splitter. Now. I got $10 immediately. When do I get the $15 for using TIVO? BTW I used the button
on the left side of the page.

I went on BigCrumbs to sign up. Can you tell me the difference in crumbearner and crumbsaver. I didn't sign up yet.

Kelly,
If you didn't see the other $5 come thru ( this happened on some of my referrals, too ), email their customer service. Tell them you signed up in March under the double sign up bonus, and they should fix. They manually added my extra $5 within about 4 days.
On Google Checkout, you should have seen that $10 on your invoice before you hit the submit button. It is only for new Google users, so if you were a new google user and qualified...I would go to e-bags directly and state the problem. Ebates would have nothing to do with that one.
In most cases, customer service can usually solve most problems, as long as you followed all directions to qualify.
Let me know if you need further help.

Evelyn,
My $15 for TIVo showed up approximately 4 days after I bought it. So, if you purchased today, I would think you should be able to log back in on 29th and your credit should be there.
Your actual check will come in the mail around the middle of May. So, that is when you will get the actual money in hand.

Evelyn,
Crumbsaver is what you would want to sign up for if you are only planning on buying things yourself and referring a few friends. You will get a higher percentage back on purchases and get paid on those you refer.

A crumbearner is for someone who will be referring many, many people and those people will be referring people, etc. For example, you will get paid 5 levels down, I believe it is.
You get a lower percentage back on your purchases, but you get the benefit of those below you when they buy something.

Hope that helps.

Kelly,

I just looked on my ebates...and you were the one I only get $5 for and I had to request manual credit. Since I got manual credit, I would have to assume they can't argue against you getting credit, too. Make sure to write them today.

Thanks so much for this! I had 10. sitting at ebates about to expire and since it was a sign up bonus from who knows when I wasn't able to get it out w/o a purchase. I had no clue what to get tho' as I really don't shop much and didn't need anything. But your post showed me that I needed a phone splitter from TIVO. lol.
Thanks!!

Robin, your post was tooo funny. Sounds like me.

What is google checkout? I keep hearing new terms!

Another question, I signed up for BigCrumbs. In the terms on #8 Statement it talked about terms and negative transactions that would reduce our payment. What is this? I guessed only that this was if I returned something. Is this correct?

Thank-you, thank-you Carrie for your expertise.

Another question. Can I refer family members to Ebates? I saw you could not refer family members to BigCrumbs.

I was about to do this, but then I read the coupon specifications and it said that you do not earn cashback on accessory purchases... The phone splitter was listed under accessories.

Carrie @ Moneysavingmethods.com said...

Evelyn,
Negative transactions will be any returns, etc. So, if you buy something...get credit and then try to return it the next billing cycle, your refund will be reduced.

In regards to referring family members, I am not positive. I would suspect they mean family members within the household. For example, my parents have a BigCrumbs account thru my referral, but they don't live with me.

With Ebates, it says tell your friends, family, co workers. Tell as many people as you want. So, I assume it is OK to refer family with them.

Kelly,
I just checked my account, and I was wrong. They did not give me manual credit for your account. It seems the extra $5 they gave me was for referring 5 people.

Apparently, it looks like you signed up in Feb under the Feb promotion. THEN, you didn't buy anything before that promo ended. So, you then lose out on that extra $5 and fall to the normal $5 sign up bonus.

Even though a new promotion started in March, you had to finish your qualifications before the February promo ended and make your purchase.

BUT..with all that said. I would still call them and askly nice the customer service folks what can be done about the mishap. You never know...they might be able to fix it.

Let me know what happens.

Laura,
What coupon specifications are you talking about? I just logged back into Ebates and I did not see any wording for accessories, unless I am looking in the wrong spot.

All I can tell you at this point, is I did get my $15. Unless they take it away at a later date, the transaction came through for me and I actually already got the product from TIVO.

If you can give me directions to where the coupon that stated this is, I would SOO appreciate it. I want to make sure they didn't change the terms on getting this free $15 before more people sign up.

Thanks,
Carrie

If you click on "info" next to Tivo, and scroll down, it says No Cash Back on Accessories.

Carrie @ Moneysavingmethods.com said...

Megan,

Thanks for the "info". :-)

I clicked on the drop down box on the left and went to TIVO ( never knew there was another way to get ot the shops ) and that spot says you get $15 if you buy off of TIVO.
There is no info box.

But, I searched around since you two saw it, and if you click on TIVO thru the All Stores tab, that info button does say no accessories.

SO..the question is...will the $15 stick? Is the "no accesories" new, since we all started buying?

So far, my $15 is still there. I am going to assume since the link I clicked through did not have the no accessories info button.

Thanks for finding that info!

I ordered from TIVO on Mr. 25th. I did get my $15. I was so surprised.

Evelyn,
I would write them an email asking what happened.

I do NOT have credit for your sign up, although I do see your name there. It still says $0.

Let us know what they say when you write them.

I have quite a few credits missing actually, of others I know who signed up. One being a close friend of mine who ordered the Entertainment Book. It still shows $0 for her, too
