Starbucks Coffee has just come out with a new rewards program. And, I am all over it!

First, if you have read my blog in the past, you know Starbucks is not my first choice for coffee out.
But, I do occassionally stop by. Especially, since we always seem to receive gift cards for them. We have a stockpile going right now. My husband receives them here and there at work for projects ( little thank you ) and we got some from our students that we taught at Sunday School this year.
Well, with their program, if you register your gift card online here, they will send you a coupon for a free coffee!! So, that alone is worth it for me. I have these gift cards setting around, why not register them!
If you don't have a gift card, but you frequent Starbucks, I would highly recommend buying one next time you are there( use it to pay for your coffee then...they told me today you can load ANY amount on the card..so even the exact amount of your coffee supposedly ), and then recharging it online or in store every time you go. Why?
If you use your registered card, you also receive these benefits:
- Add syrups and milk options free of charge.
- Free refills on coffee while in their store
- Free beverage with every 1 lb. whole bean purchase
- 2 hours of free Wi-Fi everyday
Not a Starbucks regular, but have a gift card sitting around? Do you find yourself in their store periodically, but don't think the rewards are worth it?
My feelings about reward programs is that you should always register if they are free. Why? Over the years, you may be surprised what you accumulate from periodic visits. Or, why not get that one free coffee for registering? Plus, reward programs often times change through the years as they update and change based on customers needs and wants.
Want some examples? We hardly ever went to TGI Fridays, but I had their old rewards card for years and years. You can read my post here. But, eventually, just by scanning it the few times we went, we got an almost free meal ( $12 ) for our family of 5 recently ( with appetizer ).
Or, what about the Pampers program? I signed up and faithfully log my codes each time I buy them. I did this even when I didn't see any prizes I was interested in. Boy, am glad I did...because years later...they extended the program and now offer gift cards!

Also, when I originally posted..I wasn't sure about paying shipping on gift cards...but it appears that there is no shipping if you order a gift card ( or there wasn't as of a few months ago ).
All of the gift cards I have looked at for Pampers had free shipping. I felt so bad b/c I didn't tell my friend about the codes on the inside and she had been throwing them away for MONTHS!! :)
When you have enough points to buy an item you can click on it and look for the shipping and handling charge, then if you don't want to buy it you can cancel (or something, I can't remember the exact "choice"). I honestly wish they would put the shipping and handling charge next to the points needed, maybe I should suggest it? I think they don't want to scare people off.
