Rite Aid, Walgreens and Target Prescription Coupons

Boy, am I excited!

I had been running low on Prescription coupons and had resorted to using the $10 Meijer transfer coupons the last few months.

But, just as I was feeling we had hit a dry spell with the Prescription Coupons, three stores are offering them again! Yeah.

First, a big thank you to Erin at Coupon Cravings for posting about the $30 Rite Aid Prescription Coupon last week. I was definitely craving that coupon, Erin!

Click here to access it online. This one is for transferred prescriptions ONLY and expires November 30th.

Here are the official details.

NEXT, my 2 Sunday papers came this weekend and I noticed the Walgreens ad had a $25 Prescription coupon attached to the front of it. Woo, hoo!

I even stopped in the store today pick up a handful of the ads, so I could have a stack of these coupons available to me. They don't expire until January!

But, if it wasn't attached to your Walgreens ad or you missed the paper this weekend, click here to access the coupon online directly from Walgreens website.

This $25 is also ONLY good on transfers and not new prescriptions.

Click here for all the details off their website.

SOOO...what is a girl/guy to do if you need a new prescription filled?

Well, Target had their $10 for a NEW or transferred prescription coupon in this Sunday's ad in my area. If you didn't receive it, I am sure they will begin showing up on eBay soon. But, don't forget to register with Big Crumbs before buying anything on eBay so you get a percentage back on all your eBay purchases.

Not sure why I am so thrilled about Prescription coupons? Click here to read my original post on how I make a profit just by buying my vitamins thru the pharmacy each month and transferring them back and forth. I have made a profit of $180 this year, plus gotten my vitamins for free, month after month!

But, it is also a benefit for me when my kids get sick and need a prescription filled. I am able to make money off of getting it filled.

Of course, this all depends on your insurance and prescription plan for your family ( my copay is only $5 everytime I get a prescription filled ), so call them today to see what exactly is you co-pay for prescriptions and what all the plan covers.

If nothing else, using these coupons may help defray the cost of prescriptions in your home, at the very least, if the cost from these stores work out to be competitive for you and you get money back.

I don't know if you know this or not but my Kroger will match any competitor's ad. So, I can take the Walgreen's ad and Kroger will give me the same amount offered by Walgreen's on a Kroger gift card. My money stretches farther at Kroger than at Walgreen's.

Lori,

The Krogers in Ohio did this up to a few months ago.

Now, all the boards came down saying they would match, and when you take them in...they won't do it anymore.

I was the same way...I always leaned toward Kroger, but it is not an option anymore.

As far as I now, CVS will still match, though, as long as it is a hard copy coupon and not a print out.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up on this one. I used a coupon to fill a new RX at CVS and I've been wanting to move to it Walgreens since they're open 24/7. I LOVE this. Thanks again.

Carrie,

Thanks for posting! Just got an email from my 3 y.o.'s school saying there's a confirmed case of strep throat in her classroom. Well, DD was complaining of a sore throat this morning so now putting 2 and 2 together I wouldn't be surprised if she had strep and will need antibiotics. Just waiting for the doctor to re-open after lunch to get an appt for this afternoon! Just printed out the Wags coupon -- will come in handy I'm sure! Thanks!

The coupon says for a transferred prescription - will it work for a brand new, from the doctor, prescription?

The coupons that say transferred will not cover a new prescription.

BUT, this is why I keep hard copies of the Target coupon on hand for $10. They were in last Sunday papers Target ad, if you still have a copy. Or, at least they were in the Southern Ohio newspapers.

It doesn't pay as much, but it is something AND if it is for more than one month...you can then transfer it from Target to Walgreens or Rite Aid for the 2nd month, and use their coupons.

Also...just a note to most. If you get a prescription from a doctor for a 3 month supply..for example, etc, you CAN ask the pharmacist to only fill one months worth. You can then transfer back and forth for the next 2 months to make more money.

Good job 'saving money', but do you not realize that those coupons aren't to be abused? That money doesn't grow on trees? That $180 that you 'made' off of these companies wasn't just sitting there and relaxing, waiting for you to get it. Sure, it may seem like you're 'Making Money', but if you're not doing it once and then staying there, you're not really using it how it was made to be used and you're screwing the system. Good job! You're a part of the problem!

Just had to vent. Please make sure to read the fine print on any of the offers you're ever given, anyone. Any of these usually come with a tagline of "Only one transfer per patient every 6 months" or "Customers who have redeemed an offer in the last 6 months are not eligible". Make sure to read this and be a good person, don't abuse it. Or they won't be around for people to make use of later.

Also, http://www.consumer-health.com/services/cons_take71.htm

Go read that. That's one of the OTHER big reasons as to not to. These transfer coupons and Wal-Mart's '$4 generic' thing are destroying the business of pharmacy, IMO.
