Super Saturday Savings! Movie Theatres!

Usually, movie theatres and FREE don't go hand in hand. But, many of the large movie theatres across the United States are actually doing just that, and have been for awhile.

For example, National Amusement Theatres offer G rated movied for kids called Kidtoons. These movies are at 10 AM each Saturday and Sunday and only cost $3.50 per ticket ( this is a GREAT deal ) BUT they then give you a coupon worth $3.50 for a Kids Combo from the concession stand. That makes it an even GREATER deal!

Now, these movies aren't the newest releases. For example, in March they were showing a cartoon called Easter in Bunnyland. But, if you have small children, they are thrilled to just be at the theatre!

Then, immediately following the movie they have Kids Story Time. They get to hear a great animated story and THEN get a coupon for a free slice of pizza. Now, this is about the GREATEST deal! So, if you take advantage of this package for an afternoon, you can get away with some cheap entertainment for the family.

You can click here to see a list of participating theatres. And, don't forget, National Theatres is part of Multiplex Theatres, Showcase Theatres, the Bridge, & Cinema de Lux.

For those of you with older children, don't forget to check in the summer. I will try to stay on top of this as we near the summer months and post the schedules. This is when the theatres begin running their summer free movie specials. At National, they offer the Book Worm program. The child just has to show up with a written book report and they get in free on select days to select movies. Younger siblings and adults get in free with them.

AMC Theatres ( Loews Theatres ) also offer a Summer Movie Camp program. You can click here to read how it worked last summer. According to their website, they state it should be back again in 2008. Last year, it was on Wednesdays and they had a wonderful line up for free movies. They included Happy Feet, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Barnyard: The Original Party Animals, Flushed Away, Charlotte's Web, Open Season, and Over the Hedge. I cannot wait to see what they offer this year!

Regal Cinemas has also offered a similar program in the past!

And, as a bonus...Consolidated Theatres already has their free summer movie schedule posted. Click here.
So, hope you realize going to the movies can be affordable and fun entertainment for the family. Maybe you won't see the most recent releases, but the movies are still something pretty special to see at the theatre!
