Hi, This is Carrie's husband Ryan. I'm writing to let you know that this past Sunday 9/14 we experienced the Midwest aftermath of Hurricane Ike, which brought 85mph winds to the region. To this extent, we (and 850,000 other local households) lost power and phone for three days. Power is back up as of this morning, however, telephone/Internet is not. Despite this inconvenience, Carrie has continued tracking money savings tips and has a "pile up" of information to share with you. Thanks for patience and Carrie hopes to be back posting before the end of this week.

We are in Dayton and still out of power. However, our neighbors across the street have power. It's really odd. You can drive thru our community and see lights and then darkness. Trees everywhere. I've been recharging at Panera and jumping on someone's unencrypted Internet at night. The laundry and dishes are really beginning to pile high!

I live in East Texas. It has been rough. After a week it seems like things are getting back to normal. My mom is still here from the Gulf Coast. Her house is 40 miles south of Galveston. Lake Jackson is around 25,000 residents. The town has 25% electricity, no sewer and many other problems. But it looks only around 600 houses have major damage. That is a miracle. It will take some time for that area to go back to normal.
