Super Saturday Savings! Fun Cheap Weekend Activities!

I hope to start posting an article and pictures after a fun weekend with my family. So, let's hope, this is the first of a long series of weekend saving updates!

My husband works hard all week, often time travels or gets home late. So, he has been VERY faithful over the last few years of keeping a "to do" list for the weekends. AND, I don't mean rotate the tires, mow the grass, etc. Although, he does do that, too. :-) But, he found, if he didn't have a list of what he wanted to do with the kids as a family activity, he would end up doing his chores and then hanging around the house. So, every weekend, we look at his list and see what fun things are available. And, I, knowing what is on the list, try to find us cheap ways to enjoy our family outings.

So, here is what we did this past weekend. We bowled! This is a picture of my 5 year old son throwing his ball, yes, throwing it! Not rolling it! For some reason, he loved to fall to the ground afterward and watch it roll down. :-)

Now, if you are lucky enough to live in a state like I do which does NOT allow smoking inside, this is a fantastic activity for kids of all ages. This is espeically true when we are stuck in this bitter winter weather, and going outside is not an option! I have a 5 year old, 3 year old and an 11 month old, so we ultimately wanted bumper bowling, of course! Although, that did not happen. But, surprisingly, the kids did great. They actually did not get that many gutter balls. We met friends there with small children, too, and one of their sons actually got a STRIKE!! It was crazy!!

Now, how, may you ask, did I get a deal on bowling??? Well, go to any grocery store and buy some frozen Banquet meals with the picture of the coupon at the start of this article showing! It is for a FREE game of bowling. You can click here to see if any bowling alleys near you are participating. The banquet meals were on sale for 79 cents this past weekend at my Kroger. Regularly, they sell for 99 cents here. So, I bought 4 boxes ( our baby was free, of course ) and cut the coupons out. It is one coupon per person! Limit of one game. So for $3.16, four people got to bowl and we got 4 Banquet meals. And, if you have coupons for Banquet, you could save even more! We did still have to pay for shoes. That came to $6.00 we had to shell out at the bowling alley. So, it was under $10 for everything...including the frozen meals!!

And, don't worry, if you don't like Banquet meals ( I have actually never tried them ), you can always send an email out to your neighbors and friends to see if anyone wants them! Or,I guess if worse comes to worse...pitch them! You still more than got your moneys worth just by getting the coupon off the side of the box.

To finish off this fun weekend saver, here are a few more pics of the fun we had! My 3 year old rolling the ball with Daddy and her glee afterwards!! And, our "Baby" hanging out with me between my turns!

A fellow cincy blogger! I just found your site and love it! I am a fellow survey junkie too! I noticed you have small kids, you should look at Nickelodeon's survey site, my kids love getting shows before they're put on tv! It's http://netpanel.gmi-mr.com/portals/gpms_cp/5000539/.

Keep the great info coming!
